WireHow to wire it

LinkedIn DMs need a capture path the same dayA thread that never becomes a contact is a business card in a coat pocket.

LinkedIn is where coaches and B2B operators actually talk. It is also where pipeline goes to die: memory, Sales Navigator lists, and a calendar link in bio that never writes GHL. Wire a capture rule, a same-day contact, source:linkedin, a note from the thread, and a booking that creates an opportunity. This is not a LinkedIn ads UI tour.

The short version

Intern through CEO

LinkedIn is where coaches and B2B operators actually talk. It is also where pipeline goes to die: memory, Sales Navigator lists, and a calendar link in bio that never writes GHL. Wire a capture rule, a same-day contact, source:linkedin, a note from the thread, and a booking that creates an opportunity. This is not a LinkedIn ads UI tour.

  1. 01

Capture is the leak. If the founder says 'I’ll remember', you do not have a system. A daily 10-minute log into GHL beats a fantasy integration.

  2. 02

When they book, the Calendly/GHL form should include a hidden or visible 'came from LinkedIn' and match email. Otherwise the booked contact has no thread context.

  3. 03

Lead Gen Forms from LinkedIn ads are Instant Forms with a suit on. Same clock, same campaign fields, same no-CSV rule.

  4. 04

Scraping connections into GHL as leads is how you spam and how the board fills with people who said nothing. Outbound is a sequence with a reason, not a dump.

  5. 05

Voice notes and screenshots are not fields. last_thread_note is a short written summary an intern can read.

Who

Same system. Three jobs.

Intern

What you actually do

Log and booking tests. You are the registrar for DMs. You do not scrape. You do not write a LinkedIn course.

Operator

What you protect

LinkedIn is a door. GHL is memory. Protect the daily log until native inbox is actually true. Paid forms get a clock.

CEO

What you refuse to fund

Pipeline you cannot see is not pipeline. Same-day LinkedIn write-in is the gate before more 'personal brand' spend.

How to connect it

Objects, then edges

LinkedIn DM/InMail, profile, GHL contact, source:linkedin, last_thread_note, Warm inbound pipeline, booking link, Lead Gen Form if ads, identity without email at first.

  1. 01

Qualified DM → GHL contact same day (form, helper, or human log) with handle/URL and note

  2. 02

Calendar booked from LinkedIn → same contact, Discovery booked — not a naked Calendly guest

  3. 03

LinkedIn Lead Gen Form (ads) → GHL in minutes, like other paid lead forms

  4. 04

Connection without a conversation → not a lead unless you have an outbound sequence with a stop

Steps

Do this in order

Why, then done when
  1. 01

    Write the LinkedIn capture rule

Yes: they asked for a call, a PDF with email, or a qualified conversation. No: likes, 'thanks', cold connections with no reply. Same-day create in GHL.

Why: Without a rule, either nothing is logged or everyone is a lead.

Done when: Examples of yes/no. Intern can sort.

  2. 02

    Make booking carry context

LinkedIn-specific booking link or a field 'how we met' defaulting to LinkedIn. Note pasted or a required question.

Why: A naked calendar event is a stranger. Sales will re-ask the whole DM.

Done when: Test book from the LinkedIn link: source and a note on the contact.

  3. 03

Same-day human log if no native DM sync

A 10-minute end-of-day GHL routine: new qualified DMs become contacts. Template fields. Not a spreadsheet.

Why: Waiting for a perfect LinkedIn CRM sync is how this never happens. Native GHL LinkedIn is limited; do not block on it.

Done when: A qualified DM today exists in GHL today. Audit yesterday.

  4. 04

Wire Lead Gen Forms if you spend

Ingest to GHL, campaign fields, speed path. LinkedIn Campaign Manager is not the CRM.

Why: Paid DMs and paid forms still expire. CSV on Monday is a eulogy.

Done when: Test Lead Gen Form in GHL in minutes.

  5. 05

    Stop dumping connections

No bulk import of 1st degrees. Outbound sequences only for a named list with a reason and a stop.

Why: Connection ≠ consent to a 12-email spine. Deliverability and reputation both die.

Done when: GHL has no import of raw connections this week. Outbound lists are named.

What an intern should wire first

Create the LinkedIn booking link with source. Log one real qualified DM into GHL with a note. Book a test: context present. If ads: test Lead Gen Form. Check GHL for a pile of imported connections — archive or delete per policy. Do not build a 12-step LinkedIn drip.

What a CEO should refuse to fund

A LinkedIn ghostwriter, more connection campaigns, or Sales Navigator seats until qualified DMs become contacts the same day. More top-of-funnel into a coat pocket is not pipeline.

The usual failure

Calendar link in bio. DMs on the phone. No notes in GHL. Ads Lead Gen Forms to a personal email. Monthly CSV of connections imported as leads. Show rate on LinkedIn-sourced calls is a mystery. That is networking, not a system.

The test that proves it

DM → contact same day with note. Book → same contact with source. Lead Gen Form if spend. No raw connection dump. Yesterday’s yes DMs are auditable in GHL.

Why

Questions people actually ask

Pushback is normal

Isn’t logging DMs extra work?

It is ten minutes. Re-creating context on a call is more work. A hire cannot continue a founder’s memory.

Will native GHL LinkedIn inbox replace this?

If you have it and it writes contacts, use it as the inbox — still with a capture rule. If it does not write well, do not pretend. Log the yes DMs.

What about Sales Navigator notes?

Those stay in LinkedIn. They are not your CRM. Anything you need on the call belongs on the GHL contact.

This week

This week: capture rule, booking link with source, same-day log habit, Lead Gen ingest if you spend, no connection imports.
